The Wound Care Center at St. Francis Medical Center provides comprehensive wound management to patients suffering from chronic, non-healing wounds. Our care is effective, timely and accessible. In all we do, we are caring, compassionate and mindful of the needs of patients and their family members. Our mission is life.
During the course of treatment, care may include surgical intervention, vascular testing and education on wound prevention. Each patient’s plan of care will be determined by a physician and coordinated by a Nurse Case Manager. Referring physicians remain an integral part of each patient’s treatment plan and will receive regular progress reports throughout the course of treatment. The average time for healing is 6-12 weeks.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is the inhalation of 100% oxygen at greater than normal atmospheric pressure. Approximately twenty-percent (20%) of patients with chronic, non-healing wounds may benefit from hyperbaric oxygen treatments. During the treatments, patients are monitored closely by highly trained Certified Hyperbaric Technologists.
