Welcome to our Family Life Center — Maternity Services at St. Francis Medical Center where you will give birth to your new baby. From the very beginning, you and your baby deserve the best.

On Our Way to “Baby Friendly”

St. Francis Medical Center is on its way to becoming “Baby Friendly.” The Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) was developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) in the early 1990s in an effort to increase breastfeeding rates and, in turn, reduce childhood illness and death. BFHI includes practices that are proven to promote, protect, and support breastfeeding.

St. Francis Medical Center is working toward putting these practices in place and to achieving “Baby Friendly” designation. Through the collaboration of our physicians, nurses, and entire health care team, we are on our way to reaching our goal and to joining the more than 19,000 “Baby Friendly” hospitals and birthing centers worldwide.
